Valerie's love for this particular vintage dinnerware started as a young
child. She would often tell her grandmother Blair that when she grew up
she wanted china just like hers. When asked where she could buy china that
matched, Grandma would laugh and say that she bought it at Woolworth's many
years ago.
Through a little research we found out that her plates were manufactured by
The Homer Laughlin Company. They are in the Virginia Rose shape, and with
the Meadow Goldenrod decal.
Years later Valerie learned about Ebay, the on-line auction site, and she
started the quest for additional pieces to match her grandmother's china.
Soon she was winning a variety of beautiful plates, bowls, and serving pieces
with that familiar decal.
Not only has she completed a service for 8, she has branched out to other
shapes, decals, and treatments for her collection. Dale has also picked up
an interest in this collection and often researches the history of the Homer
Laughlin Company. He spends a lot of time looking through the on-line
auctions for that rare or special piece.
Dale and Valerie also spend time searching through antique shops as they
travel around the country. One of the unexpected results of this hobby is
meeting some fine people that share this exciting pastime.
